How to choose the right wetsuit thickness?

Thickness depends on water temperature and wind:
• thinner neoprene suits (1.5 – 2 mm) → for summer, warm water, high air temperatures and activities with a lot of movement
• neoprene suits 3/2 mm → for late spring, summer and early autumn, when the water is colder but the air is pleasant; the ideal ratio between warmth and mobility
• 4/3 and 5/4 mm neoprene suits → for colder months, cold water and windy conditions where more insulation is needed
Always take into account the difference between air and water temperature - if the water is significantly colder, choose a thicker suit, even if the air is warm.

3/2 Wetsuit – when to choose long and when short?

Short 3/2 mm wetsuit (shorty 3/2):
• suitable for summer days,
• when the water is warm or the wind is warm,
• a good choice when you want more freedom of movement and fewer layers,
• useful for summer sup, playing in the water, and recreational water activities.

Long 3/2 mm wetsuit (fullsuit 3/2):
• a better choice when you want to extend the summer season into early autumn,
• suitable when the water is cooler but the air is still pleasantly warm,
• provides more comprehensive protection (water, wind, sun),
• the most useful wetsuit for wing foiling when you don’t need a thick winter suit but want a good balance between warmth and mobility.

When is the Long John wetsuit most useful?

The Long John is a sleeveless wetsuit with long pants, so it is optimal where:
• thermal insulation is not needed in the upper body,
• shoulder restriction is not desired,
• it is warm enough for a bare upper body, but too cold for bare legs.

When to choose a wetsuit and when to choose a neoprene shirt?

Choose a wetsuit when:
• you want better protection of the torso area against water intrusion,
• you expect to fall into the water (surfing, kiteboarding, wing, swimming),
• the water is colder than the air or you will be in it for a longer time.

Choose a neoprene shirt when:
• you are going sup in warm weather where falling into the water is less likely,
• the water is warmer and only mild protection is needed,
• you want protection from UV rays,
• you prefer easier dressing compared to a wetsuit,
• you want more freedom of movement and a thinner, less restrictive layer,
• the combination of shirt and leggings is more practical than a full wetsuit,
• you have a shirt that packs better as a backup in a waterproof sup bag,
• you only need upper body protection (e.g., in hot air and cold water).
