Foil Masts – Carbon and Aluminium Masts for Wing, SUP, Surf and Pump Foiling
A foil mast is the vertical part of your foil that connects the board to the fuselage and wings, and decides how high above the water you ride. Mast length sets your ride height, while the material sets stiffness and feel, so the mast is one of the key choices when you build a foil setup. Our range covers AXIS foil masts in aluminium and carbon, in several lengths.

What Mast Length Do I Need for My Foil?

A shorter mast is easier to start on, as falls are gentler and the foil is less sensitive to pitch. A longer mast, such as 85 cm, gives you more room in waves and when leaning into turns, but takes more control.
Carbon or Aluminium Foil Mast?

Mast stiffness shows mainly at speed and in turns: less flex means a more direct foil response. An aluminium mast is fine for learning, while carbon pays off once you ride faster.
What Does 19 mm Mean on a Foil Mast?
The 19 mm figure is the thickness of the mast profile. A thicker aluminium mast is stiffer than thinner aluminium masts, while carbon masts can be thinner at the same stiffness, which means less drag.
Foil Mast Compatibility and AXIS Foil Masts
Your mast has to match your fuselage and board, as connections differ between brands.
- Mast and fuselage: AXIS foil masts are compatible with AXIS fuselages. With the 19 mm aluminium mast, you need an adapter that connects the mast to the fuselage.
- Mast and board: you connect the mast to your board with a base plate that bolts into the track system under the board.
- Upgrading: when you change the mast, your wings and fuselage stay the same, as long as they're from the same system.
Foil Masts for Wing Foiling, SUP and Pump Foiling
- Wing foiling: a medium length of around 75–85 cm is the most versatile choice.
- SUP foiling and waves: a medium to long mast keeps the foil in the water as the wave rises.
- Pump foiling: a shorter mast is lighter and more responsive when pumping off a dock.
How to Care for Your Foil Mast
After riding in the sea, rinse your mast with fresh water, especially the joints and screws. Separate the mast from the fuselage and base plate before storing it, so the aluminium and steel don't seize together. Grease the screws with anti-corrosion grease now and then.
