Natural skincare for sun-exposed skin
After sun is lightweight, fast-absorbing skincare designed to cool, rehydrate and repair skin after UV exposure. A good after sun lotion or gel replaces the water and lipids your skin loses on a hot day, calms redness, and helps prevent the dry, tight feeling that turns into peeling. What is after sun and why does your skin need it?
UV radiation, salt water, wind and chlorine all pull moisture out of the skin and damage its barrier. After sun products work like a high-performance moisturiser tuned for that exact moment: a higher water content than a body cream, cooling actives such as aloe vera, and reparative ingredients that calm inflammation. The American Academy of Dermatology, the Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo Clinic all recommend applying a moisturiser containing aloe vera as soon as skin has cooled down after sun exposure, and reapplying as often as the skin feels dry or tight.

A lightweight, non-sticky gel built around pure organic aloe vera leaf juice from Portugal's Algarve coast, low-molecular hyaluronic acid, glycerin and a touch of lemongrass essential oil. It absorbs in seconds, drops the surface temperature of the skin, and is the right first step if your face, shoulders or back feel hot or pink after a long session. SWOX Hydro Repair Cream (50 ml) — deep repair with ectoin
The Hydro Repair Cream goes a step further. It pairs organic aloe vera with ECTOIN®, a clinically studied amino-acid derivative that binds water to the skin, supports the barrier and helps protect cells from UV- and blue-light–induced damage. Squalane, beet-root extract, fructo-oligosaccharides and argan oil deliver long-term hydration. Why SWOX after-sun products?
- Reef-safe and Hawaii Act 104 compliant. No oxybenzone, no octinoxate — the two filters Hawaii Governor David Ige banned by signing Senate Bill 2571 into law as Act 104 on 3 July 2018. The law states: "Beginning January 1, 2021, it shall be unlawful to sell, offer for sale, or distribute for sale in the State any sunscreen that contains oxybenzone or octinoxate, or both, without a prescription issued by a licensed healthcare provider."
- Made for water sports. SWOX was founded in 2009 in Australia by surfers Maximilian Jagsch, Tim Peltz and Ralph Kenke; today the brand is headquartered in Munich, manufactured in Germany, Switzerland and Portugal, and used by pros including Jordy Smith, Wade Carmichael, Mikaili Sol, Bruna Kajiya and Victor Fernández.
- Dermatologist-tested. The line carries the Dermatest "Excellent" rating; no parabens, no synthetic fragrance, no eye irritants.
- Vegan and organic. Aloe vera is organically sourced from the Algarve in Portugal. The Aloe Vera Line, launched in 2020, is entirely vegan and palm-oil free.
- 49% bio-based packaging. Tubes use I'm Green™ plastic made from Brazilian sugarcane ethanol, which captures CO₂ during production instead of relying on fossil fuels.
How to use after sun for the best results
- Cool the skin first. Rinse off salt, chlorine and sunscreen with a cool (not cold) shower.
- Pat dry, don't rub. Leave skin slightly damp to lock in more moisture.
- Apply Aloe Gel generously to any area that feels warm or looks pink. Reapply as often as needed during the first 24 hours.
- Layer Hydro Repair Cream on the face (and dry patches on the body) morning and evening for 3–5 days.
- Drink water. Sunburn pulls fluid towards the skin's surface — rehydrate from the inside.
- Prevent next time. Pair your after sun with a reef-safe SWOX sunscreen SPF 30 or SPF 50 and reapply every two hours in the water.
