Men's 4/3 Wetsuit for Cold Months Without the Stiffness

The O'Neill Hyperfreak 4/3 is a men's wetsuit for water of about 8 to 17 °C, for months when a 3/2 is no longer enough. Even at this thickness it stays super stretchy and comfortable, does not stretch out and will not become too big.

TechnoButter 3 and 3X stay soft at greater thickness, and an extra 0.5 mm on the torso adds warmth. The chest zip and taped seams mean almost no water gets in.

O'Neill's precise cut hugs the body, so a warm wetsuit does not feel like armour.

Who Is the O'Neill Hyperfreak 4/3 For?

The Hyperfreak 4/3 is for anyone who spends a lot of time on the water even when it is cold outside.

We recommend it for:

  • anyone who wants a warm wetsuit that still feels like a second skin
  • surfers in autumn and spring in the Mediterranean and Atlantic
  • kitesurfers and wing foilers in cooler months
  • anyone bothered by the stiffness of thick wetsuits

Men's Hyperfreak 4/3 Benefits

Stretchy even at 4/3
TechnoButter keeps its flex at greater thickness.

The most comfortable warm wetsuit
Soft, light and close-fitting in cold months.

Keeps its shape
Does not stretch out with use.

Dry inside
Chest zip with barrier and taped seams.

Tough knees
Krypto knee pads.

3/2 or 4/3 wetsuit?

A 3/2 is for water of 12 to 17 °C. A 4/3 like the Hyperfreak 4/3 is warmer and also covers colder water down to about 8 °C. If you get cold easily, choose the 4/3.

Material and Technology

The Hyperfreak combines TechnoButter 3 on the body and legs with TechnoButter 3X on the arms and shoulders. Seams are glued, blind-stitched and internally taped, so almost no water gets through.

Larger panels with fewer seams boost stretch. For winter water, choose a 5/4 among all our wetsuits.

Comparison: Reactor 2 vs Epic vs Hyperfreak

The lines differ in material and build quality. Reactor 2 is a quality, affordable wetsuit with flatlock seams. Epic steps up with 100% UltraFlex and glued, blind-stitched seams.

Hyperfreak is O'Neill's premium line: the stretchiest, most comfortable TechnoButter neoprene that keeps its shape, for anyone who spends a lot of time on the water.

Material and Care

Rinse in fresh water after use and dry inside out in the shade on a wide hanger. TechnoButter is soft, so watch out for fingernails and Velcro.

Why Choose O'Neill?

O'Neill has been designing wetsuits for more than 70 years, since Jack O'Neill made the first surf wetsuit in 1952, according to the brand. It is known for precise cuts that decide how well a wetsuit fits the body. The Hyperfreak is the peak of that experience.
