Premium Protection for High-Performance Water Sports

The WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 is a helmet built for demanding riders who need reliable protection during intense water sports. It is the reference helmet among professional sailors and foil racers – the same helmet used by Olympic champions and top athletes competing on the SailGP circuit.

The Prowip 2.0 is built with In-Mold technology, where a thin polycarbonate shell is fused directly with a polystyrene core. The result is an exceptionally rigid yet lightweight construction (only 290 g) that exceeds the requirements of the European water sports helmet standard. The inner pad made from thermoformed foam wicks water and dries quickly, keeping the helmet comfortable even during longer sessions.

What sets the WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 apart from lighter models is its higher level of protection against heavy impacts. The thicker, more rigid shell and 360° micrometric fit system ensure the helmet stays stable and secure – even at high speeds, during crashes, and through repeated impacts.

Foil racing, freestyle kiteboarding, windfoiling, or competitive sailing – the WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 is designed for situations where head protection is critical and half measures are not enough.

Who Is the WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 For?

The WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 is designed for riders involved in water sports where there is a higher risk of head impacts.

We recommend it for:

  • competitive sailors on catamarans and fast dinghies
  • foil racers who need reliable protection at high speeds
  • kiteboarders for freestyle and learning new tricks
  • windfoilers for protection during crashes at higher speeds
  • advanced riders who push boundaries and crash more frequently
  • anyone who wants a professional-grade helmet for demanding conditions

Comparison: WIP Prowip 2.0 vs WIP Wiflex Pro 2.0

Forward WIP offers helmets for different levels of protection and sport intensity. The WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 features In-Mold construction, a rigid shell, and a 360° micrometric fit system, designed for high-performance water sports, foil racing, and situations with a higher risk of heavy impacts. The WIP Wiflex Pro 2.0 helmet is an ultra-lightweight, compact helmet with a flexible Zone Flex shell, designed for riders who want minimum weight and maximum comfort during everyday water activities. The Prowip 2.0 is the ideal choice for those who need a higher level of protection during more intense activities. The Wiflex Pro 2.0 is for those who value lightness and compactness.

WIP Water Sports Helmet Prowip 2.0 Benefits

Superior impact absorption (In-Mold construction)
The polycarbonate shell fused with a polystyrene core delivers exceptional impact resistance – exceeding the requirements of the European CE EN 1385 standard.

Lightweight construction for extended wear (290 g)
Despite the higher level of protection, it weighs only 290 g, allowing comfortable use even during multi-hour training sessions or races.

360° micrometric fit system
The adjustment wheel at the back of the helmet allows precise fine-tuning, ensuring a stable and secure fit – even during crashes and fast maneuvers.

Ventilation shape for better wind perception
Specific design features and multiple openings allow better airflow and wind perception, which is essential during sailing and foil racing.

Magnetic buckle for quick release
The magnetic buckle allows easy one-handed release – even with wet or numb fingers.

Inner pad that wicks water
The thermoformed foam inner pad wicks water and dries quickly, keeping the helmet light and comfortable even when soaked.

Compatible with ear pads and communication system
The helmet includes protective ear pads, and is optionally compatible with the Forward WIP BBT communication system (available separately).
