SUP fin for rivers – the fin you need for safe river paddling

A river SUP fin is recommended whenever you paddle in shallow water. Compared to standard fins, it differs mainly in its shorter length and increased flexibility.

Stiffer fins generally offer better tracking and performance and are the best choice for deeper water. In shallow rivers, however, fins can easily hit rocks or dig into the riverbed. This is why softer, more flexible fins are the safer option.

Hitting a rock or the bottom can damage both the fin and the board, and it can also cause a sudden stop that may throw the paddler forward. This risk is even higher on rocky rivers, where unexpected obstacles are common.

For river paddling, shorter fins made from softer materials are strongly recommended, as they reduce the chance of impact damage and improve overall safety.

The river SUP fin attaches to the board using a US Finbox system, making it compatible not only with Red Paddle boards but also with boards from Starboard, Fanatic, Gladiator, JP Australia, Mistral, Naish and many others.
