O'Neill Psycho Hood

O’Neill Psycho neoprene hood is an ideal solution for added warmth in the water. It is suitable for all water sports, including SUP, surfing, sailing, kitesurfing, and more. The hood is soft, flexible, and comfortable, allowing natural movement without restriction.

An adjustable drawcord around the face opening allows the hood to be tightened, helping to reduce water entry and improve overall thermal protection.

Neoprene Hood for Protection from Cold and Wind

Thanks to its construction, the O’Neill neoprene hood offers excellent protection against cold temperatures and wind. The outer layer features Smoothskin neoprene, which is wind-resistant and absorbs solar heat more effectively than standard lined neoprene.

The inside is lined with O’Neill’s TechnoButter Firewall lining, which minimizes the amount of water retained inside the neoprene. This helps maintain warmth and improves overall comfort in cold conditions.

Compared to many other neoprene hoods, this model provides extra warmth due to its extended shape, which also protects the neck. It pairs particularly well with wetsuits, especially those with front zips or zipperless designs. In these cases, the wetsuit collar can be worn over the hood, helping prevent cold water from flushing down the neck or inside the suit.

O’Neill Technology

TechnoButter Firewall is one of O’Neill’s thermal linings used in warmer wetsuits and accessories. It reduces water retention inside the neoprene, helping maintain body heat.

Single-lined Smoothskin neoprene is not covered with an external fabric lining. This allows water to drain quickly while providing superior wind protection compared to standard neoprene. Due to its higher sensitivity to damage, Smoothskin is used only in areas where maximum flexibility is not required.
