No safe paddleboarding without a SUP leash
The Gladiator Pro coiled SUP leash is designed for paddling on calm waters and for racing SUP sessions. Its coiled, spring-style construction keeps the leash resting on top of the board instead of dragging through the water.
This means it creates no unnecessary water resistance. Because the coil shortens the leash, it also stays out of the way when stepping and moving around on the board.
The leash attaches on one end to the D-ring at the tail of the SUP. When not paddling, it can stay attached there, while the other end can be clipped to the center handle for easy carrying.
On the opposite end, the SUP leash features a soft and comfortable neoprene cuff with Velcro closure. The cuff can be worn around the ankle or just below the knee on the calf, depending on what feels most comfortable for the paddler.
Swivels on both ends of the leash prevent twisting and tangling, so the leash does not interfere with paddling or carrying the board.
Do I really need a SUP leash?
Every paddleboarder should understand the importance of a SUP leash, as it is considered mandatory safety equipment for paddleboarding. It is an essential piece of gear and not just an accessory.
In extreme situations, a SUP leash can make the crucial difference between safety and serious danger. This is not an exaggeration.
A SUP leash can save your life
No matter how confident you are on your board, external conditions are always unpredictable. Losing balance for just a second can put you in the water.
If there is strong wind or current, your large inflatable SUP board can quickly drift out of reach.
When you are connected to your board with a SUP leash, you greatly increase your chances of keeping the board close, getting back onto it, or catching it even in strong current.
Sometimes we end up far from shore, where swimming back without a board would require a lot of energy, especially in difficult conditions.
We know that swimming far from shore in crystal-clear water may sound tempting, but even in this case, never remove your leash. A SUP leash is mandatory equipment for very good reason.
