Wing Foil Sets – Complete Wing Foil Kits for Beginners
A wing foil set is a package of wing, board and foil, matched to each other in size and lift, so you start on gear that works together. You don't have to match the three key parts yourself, which is the hardest part of buying your first setup. Our sets are made up of the same gear we use in our wing foil lessons.
Our range includes beginner wing foil kits with an inflatable or a hard board. You'll find the rest of our gear on the Wing foil page.
What's Included in a Wing Foil Set?
- Wing: with handles or a boom, sized to your weight.
- Board: with enough volume for a stable start.
- Foil: mast, fuselage, front wing and stabiliser.
- Leash: for the wing and the board.
- With an inflatable board: a pump and a bag too.
Inflatable or Hard Board Wing Foil Set?
| Board | Features |
|---|---|
| Inflatable (beginners, travel) | more affordable + packs into a bag + impact-resistant + doubles as a SUP |
| Hard (long-term progression) | better power transfer + quicker response + still useful as you progress |
If you don't have a garage or you travel a lot, go inflatable. If you know you'll stick with wing foiling, a hard board is the better long-term buy.
What Size Wing Do I Need?
For most beginners, a wing of around 5 m² works best: it performs well in lighter wind without being too big to learn on.
| Your weight | Wing size |
|---|---|
| Up to 65 kg | 4–5 m² |
| 65–85 kg | 5 m² |
| 85–100 kg | 5–6 m² |
| Over 100 kg | 6 m² |
Which Foil and Board for Beginners?
To start, choose a foil with a larger front wing and a low aspect ratio, which lifts at low speed and flies steadily. If in doubt, go for the bigger front wing, as it means easier take-offs and more forgiveness. As a rough guide, your board should have at least 20–30 litres more volume than your body weight, and be long enough to pick up speed quickly.
Why Buy a Set Instead of Separate Parts?
In a set, the wing, board and foil are chosen to work together, so you avoid a mismatched setup that slows down your learning. A set is modular: as you progress, you swap only the front wing, mast or board, not your whole setup. You'll find individual parts among our wings, wing foil boards and foil sets.
What Else Do I Need With a Wing Foil Set?
- Wetsuit: for colder water.
- Helmet: protects you from falls and the foil.
- Buoyancy aid: extra safety in your first hours.
- Wing foil accessories: bags, pumps and spare parts.
How to Get Started With Wing Foiling
The best conditions for learning are steady, moderate wind on flat water with no obstacles. You'll progress fastest with lessons, and you can also try the gear by renting it before you buy.
Wing Foil Set Price
The price of a set depends mainly on the board: a set with an inflatable board is more affordable, while a set with a hard board costs more but lasts longer. A set is usually cheaper than buying the same parts separately.
